How perfume samples work before production

Samples are how you choose the scent for your brand. Pick 5 or 10 fragrances, wear them for about a week, then take your favourite forward to production.

Short answer

Choose, test, then produce

You order a discovery kit of 5 or 10 fragrance vials, we prepare it in about 4 to 5 weeks (each fragrance needs maceration and maturation) and ship it free worldwide, and you wear the scents for about a week before choosing one for your brand. 50% of what you pay for the kit is credited toward your first production invoice.

Prices in your currency are on the sample kit page.

Step by step

How the sample stage works

  1. Choose a kit

Five or ten samples, bespoke or inspired-by. Bespoke samples are created for you from our library, your own notes, or both. Inspired-by samples are all picked from our inspired-by library.

  2. Pick your fragrances

Browse the fragrance library — each direction shows its Opening, Heart and Drydown — or describe the notes you want.

  3. We prepare and ship

Samples take about 4 to 5 weeks, as each fragrance needs maceration and maturation, then courier delivery. Shipping is free worldwide.

  4. Wear and compare

Take about a week. Wear each scent on skin over several days before you decide.

  5. Choose and move to production

Tell us which scent to take forward. Production then takes about 2 to 3 months, while you choose bottle and cap and confirm your design.

What you receive

What is in the kit — and what is not

The discovery kit is fragrance vials only, so you can choose the scent for your brand. Bottles, caps and boxes are chosen separately from our white-label catalogue — see the bottle and packaging guide.

Test well

How to judge perfume samples

  • Test on skin, not only from the vial. Testing from the vial alone is a common mistake.
  • Give each scent time. Fragrance develops on skin — notice the opening, then again after a few hours.
  • Wear it over several days. Your first impression is not always your favourite.
  • Think about your customer. Choose for the market and strength you plan to sell, not only your own taste.

If none of the samples is quite right, tell our team what is close and what to change.

After samples

What happens once you choose

You choose your bottle and cap, confirm the label and box design, and we produce from 300 pieces per variant. Production takes about 2 to 3 months after you approve your samples — see the production timeline. Send your brief in Create, or start from the Private Label overview.
